16 Nov Come back wedding – Viva La Vida: Felipa and Lorenzo wedding
Although sometimes we live and work far away from the place where we were born, it is hard to imagine spending our life defining moments someplace else than where our home and our heart are.
The Wedding Tourism Agency Procida W.E.D., the first on the island, founded in 2012 and led by Federica Formisano, has become specialised over the years in organizing the so called Come Back service, for all those islanders who want to come back home to Procida for their wedding.
Have a look at the photo story of Felipa, our bride Frida, and Lorenzo from Procida: a real hymn to life, celebrated before the Covid pandemic but which we wanted to dust off to spread and get everyone a message of joy and courage.
Photo and video team
This is a glance at their most beautiful day, marvelously captured by Giuseppe Greco, a photographer from Ischia who’s traveling around Italy and the world with his Canon camera, and with Giulia, his better half at work and in real life, a loyal companion, delicate soul of the couple. There’s also a video by Antonio Mattera, a video maker from Ischia, which completes the story and tells it from a different point of view.
Frida Khalo Vibes
Felipa’s look is totally inspired by the heroin of her country: Frida. The figure of Frida Kahlo stands for braveness, strength, love and pain.
She was an extraordinary woman: we all could learn a life lesson from her. She managed to open her city’s doors and bring her art all across the world. “Don’t mind me, I come from another planet, I see horizons where you draw borders”, that’s how the empowered artist liked to describe herself.
The Wedding location
The couple has chosen one exceptional location for both the civil ceremony and the following reception: the wonderful Solchiaro Resort, owned by Filomena and Antonio – well, we know them as Nuccia and Tonino!
The wedding venue is located in Punta Solchiaro, the most southern point of the island. It features a vast garden, a solarium, a citrus grove, a swimming pool, and it even has comfortable, prettily furnished rooms, with handmade details arranged by Tonino.
The resort is a quintessential place for love for details , and from here you have a marvellous view on the colorful Marina Corricella on one side, and the sun setting on Ischia on the other side.
Power to colors
As the chosen location is already such a beautiful place, it called for a touch of magic! So the choice for the floral designer naturally fell on Ketty Pettrone. She’s the founder of Ketty Experience, a top supplier of Procida W.E.D., and she moved from Caserta for this special occasion.
Ketty has done an extraordinary research, resulting in a floral abundance that really delighted our eyes, filled every corner, and framed the most beautiful moments of this touching ceremony.
The extra touch
For our couple we have thought of many interesting spots in the venue, like a Flower bar built on an ancient well, with flowers, spices and fragrant potions, and a Cigar/Tequila bar, designed as a special treat for the groom’s best men.
The Wedding Couple and their guests
Lorenzo, the groom, is a handsome mediterranean looking young man, elegant in his tailored wedding suit.
Felipa, the bride, came to Procida with her loved ones: her older sister and her friends; whilst Lorenzo came back to his old friends, and he also invited his work colleagues and their families. Three wonderful kids also attended the ceremony.
Make- up and hairstyling
As for the looks of Felipa, her sister and maid of honor Guadelupe, and her friends Blanca, Monica and Lola, they were in safe and professional hands: Lucilla, make up artist and owner of the beauty salon “La Perla”, a true gem of our island, curated the bride party’s makeup with natural, cutting-edge products. On the other hand, Stefania d’Alessandro has defined which makeup line was to be used, making the difference as always.
The hairdos, on the other hand, were studied and designed by Spadino Hair Style, the island’s Wella salon, and their execution was entrusted to Anca, talented and multilingual collaborator.
Bride and bridesmaids’ outfits
Outfits and accessories were all conceived and curated by the famous store Mediterraneo, landmark of the port Marina Grande, managed by Ilenia Occhio. Thanks to an attentive online communication the girls were able to put together and order, albeit remotely, the best outfits.
In particular, Ilenia recommended both the outfit worn on the wedding day, and those worn the day before, in an all-female pre-wedding, for which Ketty also set up a Bouquet Bar, with mini bouquets as a gift for the bridesmaids from the bride. Mexican tradition loves flowers.
The wedding ceremony
The wedding ceremony took place in the garden, under a gazebo adorned with imported ribbons and fabrics, where the bride and the groom exchanged “Las Promesas”; the setting for the reception was a beautiful table made of stone, soaked in the sunset light.
Tacos bar and fusion menu
For the occasion, the catering has revisited the menu, finding the perfect harmony between the scent of the lemons from Procida and the strong and spicy Mexican flavors. The tablescape featured various typical elements, like the placeholder maracas, which gave everything a further touch of cheerfulness and put the guests in the mood to dance!
The bar staff of the “Lido La Rotonda” was in charge for a special corner, the Tacos Bar, featuring Corona beer, a typical fresh mexican beer, and a food section, embellished with the florists’ petals, chosen with careful attention to the mix of smells and flavors.
Stationary and Photo booth
Finally, a special thanks goes to designer Ivana Toma and graphic designer Aurora from Auca Design, a renowned graphic studio based in Abruzzo.
Aurora’s stationery project is very meaningful. She used lots of paper components for it , from the save the date to the thank you card: they were all designed on precious and refined paper. Also, Aurora embellished the save the date with a stamp-like image of Frida.
The finished graphic Suite holds all the elements for the perfect Destination Wedding.
Ivana Toma, on the other hand, created the themed photobooth, the special knot for the symbolic wedding ceremony, and also the personalized hangers that Felipa gifted to her bridesmaids along with the dresses and mini bouquets.
Cake, dragée and wedding favors
For the moment we’d all been waiting for, the moment of the cake, the bakery “dal Cavaliere”, one of our agency’s trusted partners, has created for the first time ever for a wedding a gorgeous black three-tiered cake. The florist harmoniously decorated it with bird-of-paradise flowers and a cascade of roses.
With the cake came the wedding favors for the guests, a beautiful reminder of Procida : tiny bottles of limoncello, topped with colorful mini sombreros, provided by the Wine shop “La Cantinella”- limoncello is the shop’s flagship!
And last but not least, a floral sweet table, where the flavors of the sugared almonds provided by an old artisanal confectionery were combined with a tasting of citrus liqueurs.
The thought of the Destination Wedding Planner:
“I believe this work is very visual, especially for the whole part regarding the stationery and the floral arrangements. Words become secondary, and we completely immerse ourselves into this tiny piece of Mexico brought to Procida.
If I close my eyes, I can smell it; it’s been a long time, since I set foot in Mexico several years ago, that I promised myself to pay homage to this fascinating country.
Teamwork has been fundamental to putting together the pieces of this extraordinarily colorful love puzzle.
I thank all the partners involved, and the most due thanks goes to Monica, my closest collaborator, for her immense research work to define every tiniest detail, and to the rest of my irreplaceable staff, always flexible and prepared for any unexpected things; finally I want to thank Intrecci Soutache for our accessories, always in tone!”
Buena suerte F&L!
